Kyra Husbands was born and raised in Beacon, NY, in the year 2000. She is currently located between New York City and her hometown, Beacon. Kyra graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA, majoring in Visual and Critical Studies. Growing up in Beacon, NY, she developed an intense interest in art through the community around her, which played a major role in her desire to hone her own collection of work, as well as her interest in curating and understanding the importance of art education, and accessible engaging spaces for art to exist. As a developing artist, some of the artists that have stimulated Kyra's creative practice include Stanley Whitney, Jordan Casteel, Anne Truitt, and Jack Whitten.
